Balloons don’t only take flight in the movies… Since 1964, the CNES has operated the balloon launch center in Aire-sur-l’Adour.
At the edge of the Landes region, the teams there manage year-round operations of light balloon flights, as well as the preparation of launch campaigns organized all around the world. These bubbles of ingenuity carry instruments up into the stratosphere to study the atmosphere, test technologies, or observe the Universe.
