This boxed set, designed with the Centre national d'études spatiales (National Centre for Space Studies), relives the greatest moments in the French conquest of space, from the first rocket launches in Algeria to Thomas Pesquet's Alpha mission on board the International Space Station.
Enough to satisfy the most passionate and stimulate the imagination of all!
Sixty years ago, when the space race had just begun, France launched its own space programme. Thanks to the Diamant rocket, it became the third world power capable of putting a satellite into orbit a few years later.
Since then, the Ariane launchers, the Spot, Pleiades and Jason observation satellites, the Argos beacons and the numerous exploration missions are all success stories that have made France a key partner in Europe's space programme and a major player in international cooperation thanks to the expertise of several generations of men and women.
